MILLA NOVO

Milla Novo is a textile artist redefining the boundaries between tradition and innovation through large-scale, hand-knotted wallhangings that merge cultural symbolism with sculptural impact. Based in the Netherlands with deep ancestral ties to south-central Chile, her work is a dialogue between Mapuche heritage and contemporary interior design.

Each piece is crafted in her studio near Amsterdam and customized for high-end residential, hospitality, and cultural spaces. What distinguishes Milla’s work is not only its scale, but its soul: woven with meaning, rhythm, and ancestral memory. Her mother — a respected member of the Mapuche community in Chile — introduced her to traditional weaving techniques and sacred patterns that speak to lineage, land, and identity. These symbols, once passed down through generations of indigenous women, are now abstracted and reinterpreted through Milla’s own visual language.

Far from the nostalgic connotations of macramé, Milla Novo’s practice is architectural, sensual, and future-facing. She has developed a proprietary collection of metallic ropes — in gold, bronze, black, and copper — that elevate her works beyond the decorative into the realm of functional art. Her installations not only anchor a space visually but often serve acoustic and atmospheric purposes, altering sound and light with textured nuance.

Meems represents Milla Novo across the Middle East and Africa, where her work resonates deeply with the region’s growing appetite for collectible design, sensory architecture, and cultural hybridity. Her art offers a rare balance — tactile yet refined, rooted yet contemporary — making her an ideal collaborator for luxury spaces that seek narrative, materiality, and emotional depth.
